Published Resources

Closure (permanent). The term closure refers to the status of, or an action directed at, a disposal facility as the end of its operating life. A disposal facility is placed into permanent closure usually after completion of waste emplacement, by covering of a near surface facility, by backfilling and/or sealing of a geological repository and the passages leading to it, and termination and completion of activities in any associated structures.
