Function: Radioactive waste repository
Location: Solymár, Hungary

The Solymár Repository was created as a temporary radioactive waste disposal site and located on the outskirts of Budapest. The waste comprised both natural and artificial radionuclides with a half-life greater than 30 days. At the time of closure, the 900 cubic metres of waste generated radioctivity in the order of 400 TBq (about 10 kCi).
