Contextual Information Framework - Demonstration Web site

This web site has been produced for the International Atomic Energy Agency to demonstrate the possibilities of contextual information frameworks to provide a means by which knowledge of radioactive waste disposal could be made available for future generations. The web site has been produced using the Austehc relational database system, the Online Heritage Resource Manager. Contextual information frameworks utilize the principles of open network information architecture to provide structured and meaningful access to information about the past and the present.

The Püspökszilágy Radioactive Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility in Hungary was chosen because it had recently been the subject of a project funded under the European Commission Phare programme to assess the safety of the facility (Project Reference No 990167). The final report of the safety assessment of the Hungarian repository was provided for the analysis. Furthermore the IAEA had also recently published TECDOC 1323 that documented the governance and regulatory frameworks that existed in a number of Member States, including Hungary.

A good place to start exploring the data is to browse the indexes of entities (See 'Browse' above) or you can go directly to the entry for the Püspökszilágy Radioactive Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility itself and explore the relationships and links to related entries, publications and archival resources. Please note that the archival resources example given is entirely fictitious due to there being no information available about the nature or location of any archival records.
