The International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee was established by the International Society of Radiology in 1928 to provide recommendations and guidance on radiation protection. In 1950 it was re-structured to better take account of uses of radiation outside the medical area, thus transforming into the International Commission on Radiological Protection.
