Atomic Energy Act of 1996 (1996 - )

The Hungarian Atomic Energy Act of 1996 states that radioactive waste management and decommissioning of nuclear facilities shall be performed by an organisation designated by government. Accordingly, the Public Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (PURAM) was established in 1998 as a state-owned, non-profit organization.
